Description

Ok, my last one on this. Representing Grumman Iron Works, the Grumman F-14A Tomcat, and Grumman F5F-5 Hellcat. Grumman developed a reputation for building tough fighters that could withstand a lot of punishment. The Hellcat was instrumental in the U.S. Navy achieving air superiority over the Japanese in WWII - it was tough, maneuverable, fast, easy to fly, and easy to build too. This is the Hasegawa 1/32 scale version, in the livery of the U.S. Navy's highest scoring ace, CAPT David McCampell, who shot down 34 Japanese aircraft. The amazing thing is he shot down all of these aircraft during a nine month combat tour as the Commander of Carrier Air Group 15, onboard USS ESSEX (from February to September, 1944).

Interesting to note the size difference between these two birds!
