Machine by NavJAG Machine by NavJAG
First of the Fury crew I've completed.  I've been working on their faces, and all the faces are done at least.  This is the 1/35 Bravo 6 version of Logan Lerman's character "Machine" in Fury.  Colors are a mix of Vallejo and Tamiya paints.

Faces are the toughest items for me to paint.  This is the only character of the five crewmembers that I've attempted eyeballs - the others are darkened out.  I've also been painting the four Tamiya crewmembers that came with the M4 Sherman model - they have been good practice for the Bravo 6 characters.

"Machine! That's it, that's his war name!"
"That's perfect."
"I christen thee 'Machine'!"

1/35 scale? Dear God, how did you paint the eyes on something that small???

Cheating, I watched a bunch of youtube videos.  It was tough - of the five crew I'm working on, he is the only one with painted eyes.  Lot easier just to do shadows!

I've got a few die-cast soldiers who have that shading effect for their eye sockets. It's all fine until I want to take a close-up picture and find that I've got a horde of eyeless zombie people looking at the camera.

I'd look online to see if anybody sells waterslide decals in 1/35, but that would take just as much skill to apply.

Thanks - I'll check ebay to see if they have them!

Actually, I'd specifically meant eye decals.  I already know at least one site that offers waterslide decals like rank insignia and unit patches, but I've never heard of any for facial features.

Hey, if you really think it's easier to apply decals that small to a miniature's face instead of painting eyeballs, go right ahead. I'm curious now to see if it could actually work.

With the sunlight, it brings things into perspective.  I don't know what you drybrushed the figure with the reflectivity of the folds seems all the more indicative of that type of fabric.  It has that denim faded sort of look.  Really good!  Are these Verlinden figures?  Those buttons!

I did a lot of drybrushing on this figure.  Although the sun does wash it out quite a bit.

He is one of five Bravo 6 figures I bought to add to my M4 Easy 8 Fury build.  The molding and detail work is simply exceptional!

Man, he's exceptionally well molded. Mostly his coat.

He is - the molding is the best of any figures I've ever worked on!

Hey thanks!  I was in Jacksonville, FL this week for some training and just got back.  Had some great food down there, including a lot of fired seafood!

My first thought on seeing the thumbnail was "portrait", not "model".

Thanks - they are a lot of work, but the quality of these figures really merits the work you put into them!
